RealCare® Baby is crafted from soft vinyl and features real infant sounds, to simulate a newborn infant from birth to three months old. Baby comes in seven different head styles for both male and female, and features a patented head and neck assembly that requires constant, proper head support just like a real baby.
During a simulation, Baby cries to be cared for as a real infant would. The participant must determine what Baby needs and respond in a timely manner. Baby must be fed, burped, rocked and diapered around the clock.
Unique, wireless IDs are worn by the caregiver and Baby will only recognize the person responsible for its care. Optional “babysitter” IDs are available and used at the discretion of the instructor. This ensures that only the assigned participant(s) responds to RealCare® Baby, and that the results accurately represent their performance.
Baby tracks its care (rocking, diapering, feeding, burping) and safe handling. Detailed data can be downloaded after the simulation, including exact times of missed care events, and specific mishandling—Shaken Baby, head support failure, wrong positioning and rough handling.
Our latest model—RealCare® Baby II-plus—is rechargeable using a standard wall outlet and can be programmed using your personal computer with Control Center software.

Simulations are easy to set up using Control Center software! RealCare® Baby follows schedules derived from real infants. The instructor can choose from 15 different infant care schedules (from easy, medium, to hard) to provide a unique experience for each participant, depending on skill level and desired effect.
Control Center software allows the instructor to set up simulations for multiple Babies at once, assign schedules, program IDs, enter user names and Baby identification and more. Once selections are made, they are sent to the simulators using the communication pod, uploading the programming choices to Babies wirelessly.
After a simulation, the communication pod retrieves simulation data from RealCare® Baby as soon as Baby is within range of the computer.

Control Center automatically calculates how well the participant cared for Baby and gives a percentage grade, or instructors can define their own grading system. A report of any mishandling, missed care, or abuse, including the exact times when those events occurred. The report also indicates the specific kind of mishandling that constitutes Shaken Baby Syndrome. Updates to Control Center software are free and downloadable from our web site, so you’ll never miss a product enhancement.
