Finding hands-on opportunities for your small animal vet science students can be difficult when you don’t have real animals available. That’s why we created a variety of kits and trainers for students to gain knowledge and practice technical skills like feline CPR and canine auscultation. These teaching tools will not only help your students learn but ensure they’re engaged and having fun in the process.
1. Feline Vet Trainer
This realistic Feline Vet Trainer provides consistent, hands-on practice with several key small animal vet skills. The trainer is a male cat with moveable limbs for practicing restraints and positioning during a variety of procedures. Additionally, students can use it to train in feline CPR, venipuncture, injections, blood draw, and catheterization.
2. Canine Auscultation Trainer
Auscultation is an important skill for a small animal vet to master. The Canine Auscultation Trainer allows users to auscultate for important diagnostic sounds in the heart, lungs, and bowels. Users can practice a variety of proper canine restraints with the trainer in a controlled, no-harm environment. You can maneuver this teaching tool into different surgery and x-ray positions with its realistic, pliable limbs and bending joints.
3. Animal Agriculture Education Kits
Use these Cat and Dog Kits to offer engaging, hands-on lessons on introductory small animal vet concepts, such as diseases and parasites, reproduction, and body systems. As students interact with the included learning aids, posters, and curriculum, they’ll develop fundamental knowledge specific to cats and dogs. These easy-to-implement kits also includes career exploration resources.
4. Canine Vet Trainer
The Canine Vet Trainer provides consistent small animal vet skill practice. The trainer is about the size of a mid-sized male Labrador Retriever with moveable limbs to make restraint hold practice realistic. Additionally, students can practice venipuncture, catheterization, and bladder and lymph node palpation. They can also get hands-on training with subcutaneous and intramuscular injections.
5. Animal Clinic Design Kit
Help students evaluate and manage animal welfare and learn about best-practice protocols based on animal behavior and husbandry with this interactive Animal Clinic Design Kit, which gives students hands-on practice researching, designing, and creating their own small animal vet clinic. The kit comes with interactive components for up to five small groups to collaborate simultaneously.
6. Magnetic Animal Models
Use a variety of magnetic animal models to teach students the small animal vet skills of identifying and understanding animal anatomy. These models feature realistic details of internal and external anatomy. When separated at the midline, a variety of organs and body parts can be removed and studied.
