Baby Talk

RealCare Baby 4 responds to the voices of student caregivers with gentle babbling. It also tracks how often students talk to Baby, giving educators new insight into how students engage during the infant care simulation. This new functionality supports communication development and emphasizes the importance of caregiver interaction in infant development.

In addition, a new Loud Noise Exposure mishandle event has been added. If Baby is exposed to sounds exceeding 95 decibels, it will react negatively — simulating the distress a real infant might experience in a noisy environment. Don’t worry, Baby does not record what students say; it simply tracks voice interaction and exposure to noise.

Giggles and Playtime

For the first time ever, play is being introduced as an infant care simulation event! Rather than crying for attention, Baby will giggle when it’s time to play. Students must respond by interacting with Baby using a new toy that comes with the simulator.

This playful feature adds a new layer of realism to the simulation and helps students understand how play promotes cognitive and emotional development in infants. Plus, it’s a great opportunity to reinforce empathy and positive caregiver responses.

Tummy Time Tracking

RealCare Baby 4 tracks tummy time, a vital activity for developing infant motor skills. Baby will come with its own tummy time blanket, and educators will be able to see how often students engage in this important activity during their infant care simulation. This update gives students a more complete picture of daily infant care and highlights the importance of supervised, structured play for early childhood development.

Connecting with Baby

Say goodbye to wireless communication adapters — RealCare Baby 4 connects directly to Control Center via Bluetooth. It also uses Bluetooth to connect to Student IDs, allowing students to jump right into caring for Baby instead of trying to chime the ID with specific spots on Baby’s body.

New Student App Experience

The RealCare Baby Guide app is getting a major refresh — and it’s bringing new features that enhance the student experience and reduce support questions for instructors. While the app is an optional tool, it can now provide real-time updates and valuable support during infant care simulations. Features include:

  • Real-time status of Baby (awake, asleep, in a care or mishandle event)
  • Tracking of successful and missed care events
  • Display of mishandles during the simulation
  • Baby ID and power status verification
  • Temperature-taking simulation
  • Journaling and note-taking capabilities that can be exported via email
  • Scenario prompts to encourage critical thinking and decision-making
  • Access to how-to guides, FAQs, and instructional videos
