Joan Hines teaches Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS) at Southwest High School in Lincoln, Nebraska. During her nine-week Lifespan Development class, Hines usually begins with lessons about prenatal development and concludes by discussing the last phase of life. Of course, the 2020-2021 school year was a different experience for students and teachers across the country, and Hines’ FCS course was no exception. When she heard about Realityworks’ new Elder Abuse Training Kit, Hines saw an opportunity to engage both her virtual and remote students in an important topic – and it worked.
“It was incredible,” said Hines. “The kids were amazed – they had no idea what this abuse even was.”
