What is #CTELife, you ask? For us, it means celebrating the hard work of educators and industry professionals who are dedicated to helping today’s students develop the skills they need to succeed in high-demand careers. As our company president recently stated, there isn’t a day that goes by that we could live without Career & Technical Education (CTE). It’s in health care, child care, education, food production… it’s everywhere!
To celebrate CTE Month® last month, we asked several CTE teachers what #CTELife means to them. Here’s what they told us.
Katherine White, @kwhite1993, ECE Teacher, Pickens High School, GA
From Katherine:
“I love that CTE classes give purpose to learning by emphasizing real-world skills and practical knowledge. I know I’m making a difference in the lives of my Early Childhood Education students by giving them the skills and knowledge that will make them not only better educators, but better parents!”
Emily Essick, @ms_essick, Health Science Teacher, Thomasville High School, NC
From Emily:
“For me, #CTELife is all about helping students find their passion by creating opportunities for students to learn hands-on skills, earn professional certifications, and explore a wide variety of careers. #CTELife gives students a head start in both college and career opportunities unlike any other pathway. Through participation in CTE, students are able to partner with industry leaders and professional organizations to earn scholarships, internships, and valuable life experience. As a student, CTE changed my life and led me to where I am today. As a teacher, it is now my goal to help my students find their passion through #CTELife.”
Karen Cook, Agriculture Teacher, Houston Career and Technology Center, MS
From Karen:
“Career and Technical Education is one of the best places to turn academic knowledge into hands on learning. I love teaching my students inside and outside of the classroom about the numerous careers available to them and work place skills that are necessary to be successful. I love creating ways to make learning fun and hands-on.”
Congratulations to our $1,000 voucher winner, Cathy Berrier, @ledford_ffa, Agriscience Teacher, Ledford High School, NC
From Cathy:
“CTE works! CTE gives purpose to learning by emphasizing real-world skills and practical knowledge.”
