Eau Claire, Wis. (September 22, 2023) Realityworks, Inc., a leader in experiential learning solutions, is excited to announce that both their ECG Simulator and Pediatric ECG Simulator were named Best of STEM for CTE Training: Health Science in the 2023 Educators Pick Best of STEM® Awards. The awards program, operated in partnership with the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA) and MCH Strategic Data, and for the first time this year with the National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT), spotlights innovative products, technologies, and services that are changing the world of STEM education.
“We are thrilled to receive this recognition for our ECG Simulators,” said Timm Boettcher, President and CEO of Realityworks, Inc. “This award highlights our ongoing dedication to empowering educators and students with innovative tools that make STEM subjects not only educational but exciting and career-relevant.”
Realityworks’ ECG Simulators offer educators a unique teaching tool that enhances classroom instruction and hands-on learning experiences. Both simulators teach students accurate placement of ECG/EKG leads through rib palpation; how to read 3-, 4-, 5-, and 12-lead rhythms; and how to recognize those rhythms on screen and in hard copy. The accompanying software provides individual practice and assessment opportunities on rhythm reading and lead placement.
Students can use the simulators to prepare for Domains 2 and 3 of the Certified EKG Technician exam. Instructors can choose from a variety of lead placement scenarios to customize student assessments for their classroom needs.
One unique component of both simulators is the durable skin overlay, which lets students palpate for the correct intercostal spaces in the rib cage, as opposed to simply looking at an image. These learning aids simulate a variety of ECG methods to give students exposure to different techniques and show them what they could encounter in the real world.
That exposure to the real world is an important component of all hands-on tools Realityworks offers.
“By making concepts accessible and engaging, our simulators offer immersive, realistic learning experiences that help bridge the gap between theory and practice,” said Boettcher. “We’re excited to continue meeting the evolving needs of educators and students in STEM fields and beyond.”
This is the fifth consecutive year Realityworks has been honored with awards for their hands-on learning aids. Their Blood Pressure Simulator, Knee and Ankle Sports Injury Assessment Trainer, Hydroponics Educational Systems and others have all been previously recognized for their innovation and impact on education. Realityworks’ ECG simulators belong to a growing line of tools focused on bringing realism into the classroom and teaching in-demand skills.
