A classroom gardening kit is one of the most effective tools for teaching plant science. The Plant Growing Methods Lab Kit gives students the opportunity to explore seed germination and a variety of growing methods through real-world applications. With components for vertical, container, and raised bed gardening, this kit supports AFNR standards while helping students build both horticulture knowledge and career-ready skills. It’s a must-have if you’re looking to bring science to life in the classroom.
Who Benefits from This Kit?
- Middle school career exploration courses, where students are just beginning to discover pathways in agriculture, horticulture, and environmental science
- High school and post-secondary plant science, horticulture, and floriculture programs, where deeper understanding and skill-building are essential
- Schools without access to outdoor gardens or greenhouses, as you may need a flexible, classroom-friendly solution for hands-on learning
Flexible for Any Classroom
Saves on Time and Budget

Start with Seed Germination
Container Gardening Made Easy
In addition to seeds, the Plant Growing Methods Lab Kit includes 20 grow bags for students to plan and plant their own container garden with. In this classroom gardening kit activity, students learn the advantages and challenges of container gardening and how to identify appropriate containers, soil types, and plants for container gardens. Students also demonstrate proper planting techniques for this garden type as they develop and follow a maintenance plan for their own container.

Growing with Vertical Gardens
When you don’t have space to grow out, you grow up! The 10 vertical gardening containers and 150 grow cups in this kit allow students to design their own vertical garden. Students will define vertical gardening and explain its advantages compared to traditional gardening methods. They’ll also identify suitable plants, materials, and structures for this type of garden.
Dig Into Raised Bed Gardening
The final gardening method addressed in the Plant Growing Methods Lab Kit is raised bed gardening and this classroom gardening kit includes four raised bed growing systems with five modular containers each (20 total) to get students started. Through this activity, students will learn the benefits of raised bed gardening. They will also learn what tools and materials they need to construct a raised bed. Then, they’ll build and plant their own raised bed garden. Don’t worry, they won’t need a hammer to put together the beds in this kit!

Digital Curriculum and Workbooks
Worried you’ll get this classroom gardening kit and won’t know the first thing to do with it? Fortunately, it comes with a ready-to-use curriculum and digital workbooks. The curriculum features five lessons and covers seed germination, each gardening type, and career exploration. The entire curriculum takes five to seven hours to teach. However, you can easily select specific lessons or activities that align best with your class. The student workbooks offer overviews of each gardening type, setup guides, and observation sheets.
