Switching computers in time for the new school year? Follow these 3 steps to transfer old RealCare Baby® simulation reports to your new computer!
Step 1: Locate the data file that contains all the information needed to restore your RealCare® Control Center Software settings, Babies and Baby Report Data you’ve previously been using.
- On a PC (prior to Vista):
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Realityworks\Control Center
- On a PC with Vista:
C:\Program Data\Realityworks\Control Center
(Please note that it is Program Data, NOT Program Files)
- On a PC (Windows 7 and 8.1):
C:\Program Data\Realityworks\Control Center
- On a Mac OS:
hd/users/{your user name}/documents/realityworks/control center
In all cases, you are looking for a file called data.
Step 2: Save the data file onto a jump drive or a specific folder on your computer network, like a temporary folder.
Step 3: On your new computer, retrieve the data file and re-save it to the original path location.
If needed, share these steps with your IT technician to transfer old simulation reports to your new computer.

Is there a way to access live data on different computers?

Hello again, Nic! I shared your question with our product support team and this is what they said: “Great question on accessing data on different computers. The RealCare Baby Control Center Software was designed to create and utilize a single database file on one computer. We have not tested this in a peer-to-peer or multiuser scenario. The software requires the physical connection of the Communication Adapter and that the Babies be within 15 ft of that computer and adapter to respond.” Although this is not something we currently do, we’ve absolutely noted this question and request. Is there a way to save the reports as a PDF or other file?

Hello again, Kelly! According to our product support team, most computers can print files “as PDFs.” Click to print the report as though you wanted the paper actually printed, but when you are at the screen that lets you select a printer, use the printer dropdown to select the option that shows “print as PDF.” (The verbiage might change a bit.) When you click to print it, it should prompt you to save it as a file, name it, etc. I hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns 🙂
It would be great if you could build in a backup utility for teachers to use to backup their data vs them having to locate the data file. Not all users are comfortable with locating a path to a data folder. It would also encourage them to be responsible for keeping their data backed up regularly vs. having the IT dept take care of it for them.
