Eau Claire, Wis. (November 7, 2022) – Realityworks, Inc. announces that their auscultation trainers have won Gold in the 2022 Better Future New York Design Awards. Selected for their creative and innovative design, Realityworks’ Wearable Auscultation Trainer and Auscultation Trainer were both honored in the awards’ Product Design – Medical category by a global community of c-suite executives representing over 9,000 brands and 2,900 studios.

“We are thrilled by the recognition our auscultation trainers have earned,” said Timm Boettcher, Realityworks President & CEO. “Health science instructors need high-quality, affordable tools for teaching essential skills like auscultation, and we prioritized realism and accessibility when creating our unique trainers. It is an honor to be recognized by an awards program dedicated to celebrating technology and innovation.”
Auscultation is a common physical healthcare assessment technique. To be successful, nurses must be able to use a stethoscope and recognize auscultation sounds correctly. Realityworks offers two training options. Their Wearable Auscultation Trainer includes a wearable vest-like trainer, plus RealityScope and smart device with app, while their Auscultation Trainer includes a training torso, RealityScope and smart device with app. Both options allow students to practice finding and identifying sounds from realistic locations in the back, chest and abdomen, rather just than one or two of those regions, and participate in customized practice and assessment scenarios.
The RealityScope is another unique component of Realityworks’ auscultation trainers. It connects to any stethoscope to let students hear heart, lung, and bowel sounds when placed over a corresponding auscultation site. Unlike other models, Realityworks’ auscultation trainers play sounds that have been engineered to sound correct through a stethoscope. What’s more, these sounds play only when students move the RealityScope over a precise auscultation site and apply the correct pressure.
The smart device includes an app programmed with 21 sounds and over 40 scenarios. Instructors can use the app to customize practice and assessment scenarios. Both trainers come with comprehensive curriculum, including lesson plans, student activities and assessments.
Realityworks’ auscultation trainers are part of a line of differentiated training tools for health science programs, including nursing, medical assisting, sports medicine and emergency medical services. For more information on Realityworks’ health science products, visit realityworks.com.
