Finding hands-on opportunities for your large animal vet science students can be difficult when you don’t have live animals available. That’s why we created a variety of kits and simulators for students to gain knowledge and practice technical skills like cattle injections and swine birthing. These teaching tools will not only help your students learn but ensure they’re engaged and having fun in the process.
1. Bovine Injection Simulator
The Bovine Injection Simulator is a unique education tool. Use it to teach large animal vet skills like proper cattle injection techniques, including IV administration and jugular, intramuscular, and subcutaneous injections. Students can also use it to practice ear tagging and growth implant basics. Additionally, incorporate the included curriculum for a complete experience.
2. Cow and Pig Ear Simulation
Address large animal vet skills such as proper ear care and identification while providing safe, consistent ear tagging and notching practice with our Cow and Pig Ear Simulation. All ears are removable and replaceable with a realistic look and feel. The simulation comes with a model cow head, model pig head, 50 pairs of cow ears, and 100 pairs of pig ears.
3. Animal Agriculture Education Kits
It’s important for a large animal vet to understand the different diseases and parasites common to animals in their care. Give students a hands-on introduction to this topic as well as animal reproduction and more with our animal agriculture education kits. We offer kits covering beef cattle, swine, sheep, goat, and horse agriculture.
4. Bovine Birthing and Ultrasound Simulator
Give your students hands-on practice with the large animal vet skills of conducting bovine ultrasounds and birthing calves with our Bovine Birthing and Ultrasound Simulator. Place the Birthing Simulator on a table for students to practice calf pulling with a variety of calf positions. The Ultrasound Simulator uses sensing technology to simulate 14 ultrasound scenarios.
5. Bovine Fetal Development Models
It’s important for large animal vets to understand bovine fetal development. For an engaging, hands-on lesson in this topic, use the lifelike Bovine Fetal Development Models. They represent bovine fetuses at different stages of development. Stages include corpus luteum and 1, 2, 3, 5, and 7 months. All eight models have realistic features and a rubberized, lifelike feel.
6. Swine Litter Processing Simulators
Give your students hands-on practice with large animal vet skills like processing piglets with our Swine Litter Processing Simulators. Use each of the four piglet simulators in this kit to practice teeth clipping, castration, tail docking, and ear notching. Four sets of processing tools and supplies are included. Additionally, incorporate the included curriculum for a complete experience.
7. Bovine Breeder™ artificial insemination simulator
The Bovine Breeder artificial insemination simulator is a unique learning aid that teaches large animal vet skills such as correct cervix manipulation, AI gun positioning, and pregnancy palpation. It allows students to see inside the reproductive tract to identify reproductive system landmarks. Students will also learn correct techniques for inserting and delivering semen.
8. Bovine AI Cervix Training Kit
The Bovine AI Cervix Training Kit contains nine bovine cervixes that help teach the large animal vet skill of artificial insemination. The cervixes range from young bovine first-time reproduction to larger cervixes, which represent older bovine reproductive tracts. Additionally, these cervixes are compatible with the Bovine Breeder.
9. Calf Simulator
Give students hands-on opportunities to practice addressing a variety of major calf issues with our life-sized Calf Simulator. Help them understand the importance of caring for cows during their most vulnerable phase of life. Students can use this simulator to learn large animal vet skills like tube feeding, castration, and more. The included curriculum completes the experience for both instructors and students.
10. Swine Breeder™ artificial insemination simulator
The Swine Breeder is a life-sized female swine simulator. Use it to teach large animal vet skills such as proper swine artificial insemination and birthing techniques. This sturdy, portable simulator allows students to sit on it while checking for standing heat and replicating artificial insemination techniques. Additionally, use it to simulate farrowing piglets and train on normal and abnormal delivery positions.
11. Magnetic Animal Models
Use a variety of magnetic animal models to teach students the large animal vet skills of identifying and understanding animal anatomy. These models feature realistic details of internal and external anatomy. When separated at the midline, a variety of organs and body parts can be removed and studied. Explore all our animal models here.
12. Cow Anatomy 3D Flip Chart
As mentioned with the magnetic models, it’s important for a large animal vet to understand animal anatomy and body systems. The Cow Anatomy 3D Flip Chart is another option for teaching bovine anatomy. This is a portable relief chart that splits down the middle. It opens to reveal three separate cow anatomical illustrations: the external cow, the skeleton, and the internal organs and reproductive tract.
13. Bovine Milking Udder Simulator
The Bovine Milking Udder simulator is a working model of a cow udder. Use it to teach large animal vet skills and knowledge like proper udder care, milk diseases, and infection treatment and prevention. Also, use the simulator to teach proper California Mastitis Test performance and udder anatomy. Fill the four separate chambers with fluid for hands-on demonstrations as well as proper milking machine connection.
