With over 46 million households in the U.S. owning at least one cat, it’s important that our future vet techs and veterinarians have good feline vet care skills. That’s why we created the Feline Vet Trainer, a training tool to help students learn these skills in a safe environment through repeatable practice. Read on to discover all the engaging features this new trainer has to offer.
Realistic CPR Practice
CPR administration is a vital feline vet care skill. If a cat becomes unresponsive in a veterinary setting, the staff must act quickly and confidently to resuscitate it. The Feline Vet Trainer allows students to practice mouth-to-snout CPR and chest compressions. The trainer’s chest will even rise and fall as if it’s breathing! It comes with 100 CPR bags so students can start practicing right away.
Hands-On Venipuncture and Blood Drawing Training
Venipuncture and blood draws are part of a variety of standard medical procedures, making them an essential feline vet care skill. This trainer gives students realistic practice for this important skill with a circulatory system that you can run water through. Students can train on the jugular, cephalic, and femoral veins.
Engaging Injection Practice
Injections are another important part of feline vet care. The Feline Vet Trainer allows students to practice dry injections for the pilot study site, FeLV, rabies, and FVRCP. It comes with a 20-gauge syringe for immediate practice.
Male Catheterization Training
One common feline vet care procedure is catheterization. Many veterinarians and vet techs perform this task daily. This trainer gives students realistic practice catheterizing a male cat. It comes with a catheter, so students can start training right away.
Standards-Based Curriculum
The Feline Vet Trainer comes with a downloadable curriculum with three lessons on feline vet care. It covers cat care and handling, performing CPR on a cat, and more. You can go through the complete curriculum, which will take about three hours, or pick and choose lessons and activities that align with your current curriculum.
