Effective medication administration practice is a cornerstone of healthcare education, helping students build the skills and confidence they need to ensure patient safety. For educators, finding tools that offer realistic, hands-on training can make all the difference. The Medication Administration Trainer provides a safe, repeatable way to teach essential techniques like oral, topical, and nasal medication delivery—preparing students for real-world clinical environments.
Why Medication Administration Practice Matters
Medication errors are one of the most common—and preventable—issues in healthcare. That’s why giving students the opportunity to practice medication administration in a safe, controlled environment is so critical. Hands-on experience helps learners build confidence, develop muscle memory, and understand the importance of accuracy and patient communication. By incorporating realistic tools like the Medication Administration Trainer, educators can better prepare students to deliver safe, effective care from day one
8 Routes of Medication Administration Practice
This trainer offers safe, repeatable medication administration practice via the following routes:
- Oral
- Ophthalmic
- Otic
- Nasal
- Nasogastric
- Topical
- Vaginal
- Rectal
The trainer comes with a dropper for ophthalmic and otic route practice as well as simulated suppositories for vaginal and rectal practice. These eight administration routes are commonly administration overlooked, as many hands-on trainers focus primarily on injection-based administration. The variety this trainer offers allows students to gain confidence with multiple administration routes, helping them build essential skills before working with real patients.
Easy to Clean
The Medication Administration Trainer is designed with easy-to-remove sponges located throughout the body. These sponges absorb fluids during practice and can be quickly removed, cleaned, and replaced between uses. For nasal and nasogastric administration, a removable torso panel provides access to an internal fluid reservoir, making it simple to empty and reset the trainer. This thoughtful design helps educators maintain a clean, safe learning environment with minimal downtime between students.
Curriculum Included
The trainer comes with a downloadable curriculum found at the link on the trainer’s quick start guide. It features six lessons covering ophthalmic, otic, nasogastric/nasal, vaginal, rectal, and oral administration. The entire curriculum takes about six hours to teach, but you can easily pull specific lessons and activities that work best for your classroom. Presentation slides, student activities, and assessment tools are included to save you time when lesson planning.
