A good business layout is an important part of entrepreneurship and interior design that helps businesses optimize their space. If you teach interior design, business, veterinary science, or Family and Consumer Sciences, you may be interested in our design kits. These hands-on kits help students understand how to effectively lay out animal clinics, learning center rooms, and food trucks.
1. Animal Clinic Design Kit
Help students evaluate and manage animal welfare with the Animal Clinic Design Kit. This kit gives students hands-on practice researching, designing, and creating their own animal clinic. The kit comes with interactive components for up to five small groups to collaborate simultaneously.
Students will use the gridded whiteboards and scaled vet furniture sets to create a business layout for their own animal clinic. Each scaled furniture set includes 51 tiles that represent items like animal weight scales, anesthesia machines, and surgical instrument tables. The kit’s five design trays stack neatly in the included storage box to help keep all the kit’s components organized.
This kit includes downloadable curriculum and slide presentations with lessons on a career as a veterinary technician, the Animal Welfare Act and animal care, and best practices for animal clinic design. The entire curriculum takes about four hours to teach. However, you can select specific lessons or activities to incorporate into your current lesson plan.

2. Child Care Center Design Kit
This interactive Child Care Center Design Kit helps teach students best practices for laying out learning center rooms. The kit includes pieces representing furniture and boards to draw rooms for ideal learning and student interaction at three age groups. The program includes five sets of materials for small groups or individuals to work simultaneously.
Similar to the Animal Clinic Design Kit, students will use gridded whiteboards and scaled furniture to create a business layout for their own childcare center. This kit’s scaled furniture set features 75 pieces that represent items such as changing tables, cubbies, and cribs for infants, toddlers, and preschool children.
This kit’s curriculum and slide presentations focus on childcare career exploration; guidelines for classroom design; and infant, toddler, and preschool classroom design. The entire curriculum takes about three hours to teach and includes student activities as well as pre- and post-assessments. The curriculum’s author, Loralie Wallerius, has a wealth of knowledge on these subjects, having worked in early childhood education for nearly 30 years.
3. Food Truck Design Kit
The Food Truck Design Kit provides a hands-on design experience for students tasked with building a food truck business. The engaging items in this kit allow for optimal student interaction and learning. The kit includes enough hands-on activities and lesson plans to teach a three-week unit on food truck entrepreneurship.
Like the other design kits, students will use the gridded whiteboards and scaled furniture to create a business layout for a food truck. The scaled furniture set includes 22 pieces that represent items such as different sized freezers, refrigerators, and dry storage. In addition to design, students can learn how to market and manage the budget for their food truck with the included curriculum.
Adding to the lessons mentioned above, this kit’s curriculum and slide presentations explore menu development, interior food truck design, and business plan know-how. The entire curriculum takes about 18 hours to teach. The curriculum was designed for students in culinary arts, food science, or marketing courses. Its goal is to provide a guide for future restauranteurs.
