Eau Claire, Wis. (April 7, 2021) – Realityworks, Inc. announces that their ECG Simulator has been named a Finalist in the EdTech Digest Cool Tool Awards 2021. The annual competition is the largest recognition program in education technology. Judges select winners from across the K-12, higher education, and skills and workforce sectors, evaluating them based on criteria such as pedagogical workability, efficacy and results, support, clarity, value, and potential. Realityworks’ ECG Simulator received recognition for its role in empowering teachers to make an impact in today’s post-pandemic health science classroom. With this unique training tool, health care students can get true-to-life practice placing ECG/EKG leads on the body through accurate rib palpation while learning how to properly assess heart rhythms.
“We feel honored that one of our internally developed products has been named a finalist in this year’s EdTech Digest Awards,” said Timm Boettcher, Realityworks President & CEO. “With pandemic concerns making it difficult for health care students to get clinical hours with real patients, health science instructors are working harder than ever to give their students realistic skills practice opportunities. Tools like our ECG Simulator help them develop real-world knowledge.”
An electrocardiogram, or ECG, is likely the first thing healthcare providers conduct if a patient is experiencing cardiac issues. However, inaccurately placing the leads or misinterpreting the results can affect lives. Realityworks’ ECG Simulator is an all-in-one solution for proper ECG training; it lets students practice placing ECG/EKG leads on the body through realistic rib palpation, and practice reading and recognizing common rhythms. The simulator includes a tablet for practice and assessment opportunities, student workbooks and ECG Rhythm flashcards as well as comprehensive curriculum.
“The worldwide pandemic put education and training to the test, but remote learning and working—in many unexpected ways—ultimately brought us closer,” said Victor Rivero, who as Editor-in-Chief of EdTech Digest, oversees the program. “Trying times revealed strengths and capabilities of people, and workability of products. Leaders and innovators with their tools and techniques worked hard to keep the learning world connected to knowledge and each other.”
Realityworks’ ECG Simulator belongs to a product line focused on bringing realism into the classroom through simulators and models that engage students while teaching in-demand skills. For more information on Realityworks’ products and programs, visit realityworks.com.
