With over 65 million households in the U.S. owning at least one dog, it’s important that our future vet techs and veterinarians have good canine care skills. That’s why we created the Canine Vet Trainer, a training tool to help students learn these skills in a safe environment through repeatable practice. Read on to discover all the engaging features this unique trainer has to offer.
Realistic Bladder and Lymph Node Palpation Practice
The Canine Vet Trainer comes with three different bladders: empty, full, and bladder stones. Students can practice canine care by palpating the bladders to know what these different states feel like. The trainer also has enlarged mandibular and popliteal lymph nodes that students can palpate. Additionally, it comes with eight lymph node markers to test student knowledge on lymph node locations.
Hands-On Venipuncture and Blood Draw Training
Venipuncture and blood draws are part of a variety of standard medical procedures, making them an essential canine care skill. This trainer features a circulatory system that you can run water through, giving students realistic practice with this important skill. Students can train on the jugular, cephalic, and lateral saphenous veins.
Engaging Injection Practice
Injections are another important part of canine care. The Canine Vet Trainer allows students to practice dry injections in the scruff of the neck. It comes with a 22-gauge syringe for immediate practice.

Male Catheterization Training
One common canine care procedure is catheterization. Many veterinarians and vet techs perform this task daily. This trainer gives students realistic practice catheterizing a male dog. It comes with a catheter, so students can start training right away.
Standards-Based Curriculum
The Canine Vet Trainer comes with a downloadable curriculum with three lessons on canine care. It covers basic canine anatomy, vet tech skills, and more. You can go through the complete curriculum, which will take about three hours, or select lessons and activities that align with your current curriculum. The curriculum includes presentation slides and pre- and post-assessments.
