What careers does the Medical Manikin Quick Scenario Set prepare students for?
This scenario set is a great resource to help prepare students in clinical and emergency medicine careers related to infant, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
What types of scenarios are included?
There are 55 scenarios that are focused on patient age with 10 on infants, 15 on pediatric patients, 15 on adults, and 15 on geriatric patients. There are 30 scenarios that are focused on the patient environment with 15 in a clinical setting and 15 in an emergency setting. Finally, the last 15 scenarios are focused on soft skills, such as patient communication and empathy.
How easy is it to adjust the scenarios for specific focuses, like physical therapy or medical assisting?
We created these scenarios so they could be applied to all areas of health science. With a few small tweaks, to the objective or wording or expected action, you can make the scenarios more applicable to your students. Every scenario is specific enough to understand the core outcome.
How are the scenarios organized – by topic, objective, adult/pediatric, etc.?
Scenarios are organized by patient type: infant, pediatric, adult, etc. There is a helpful table of contents at the beginning of the included guide, along with a table that identifies scenario topics.
Are these scenarios helpful for secondary students, post-secondary students or both?
Both! You may determine whether the objectives are appropriate for the level of students you are teaching and adjust accordingly.
How would I use the printable workbooks?
The workbooks contain a variety of information, from activities focused on specific skills to reusable reflection questions. You may use and re-use any workbook sections you need as you need them.
