Let’s meet some of the writers who create the engaging student activities, worksheets, and quizzes that accompany our health science tools so you can easily implement them into your program.
Angela McBride
Angela McBride wrote the health science curriculum for our Dental Safety Training Kit. This kit gives your students realistic opportunities to practice key dental safety skills. It uses real-world dental safety and sterilization situations that prepare students to earn their National Entry Level Dental Assistant Certification.
McBride has been a dental assistant for over 10 years. She took an unusual path to end up in her career, starting with a bachelor’s degree in sport management. When she needed a career change, she chose dentistry because she had always been interested in teeth. Upon completing an associate degree in specialized technology, McBride worked in a dental office. There she gained valuable experience in the clinical and administrative side of the industry.
McBride is a certified dental assistant (CDA) and expanded functions dental assistant (EFDA). Eventually, she put her knowledge to use as an instructor at a CODA-approved dental assisting school. Since then, she has completed an M.A. in adult learning and training and worked with a high school online education platform to create a four-semester dental assisting course. McBride has always been passionate about passing on her knowledge to those interested in a career in dental assistance.
Ari Magill
Dr. Magill wrote health science curriculum for our Concussion Education Kit and Medical Terminology Class Kit. The Concussion Education Kit helps students understand the effects and symptoms of a concussion. The Medical Terminology Class Kit helps teach basic medical terminology through hands-on activities.
Ari Magill, M.D. earned a B.S. in Zoology from the University of Texas in Austin, TX and graduated with an M.D. from UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX. Dr. Magill completed his neurology residency at the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ and completed a movement disorders neurology fellowship at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Center in Aurora, CO.
Dr. Magill formerly practiced as a staff neurohospitalist at Northwest Medical Center in Tucson, AZ. Currently, Dr. Magill conducts independent VA disability exams on veterans who sustained traumatic brain injury (TBI) and serves as a clinical research investigator for the IMA Group at their Alea Clinical Research facility.
Dr. Magill enjoys medical writing and participating in medical education. He has a special interest in cognitive, behavioral, and memory disorders as well as functional medicine health coaching. He is passionate about advancing dementia and TBI treatment through clinical research and aggressive lifestyle change aided by judicious use of supplements. Dr. Magill is an avid bicyclist and a film enthusiast who enjoys playing basketball in his free time.
Kasey Steen
Kasey Steen wrote the health science curriculum for our ECG Simulator as well as many other learning aids we offer. The award-winning ECG Simulator helps teach accurate placement of ECG leads on the body through rib palpation; how to read 3-, 4-, 5-, and 12-lead rhythms; and how to recognize those rhythms on screen and in hard copy.
Steen has been a registered nurse for 17 years. She holds a master’s degree in nursing education from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and has been teaching associate degree nursing for over 11 years. She also has a second master’s degree in learning design and technology from San Diego State University. Steen specializes in healthcare simulation curriculum design.
In addition to the ECG Simulator, Steen created health science curriculum for the following teaching tools: Medical Math Training Kit, Blood Pressure Simulator, Ostomy Trainer, Geriatric Skin Conditions Simulation Set, Catheterization Simulators and Trainers, Bandaging and Wound Care Simulator, Venous Venipuncture and IV Administration Trainer, Advanced Airway Intubation Simulator, and Diabetes Education Kit.
